Nutritionally-enhanced leafy vegetables produced with non-GMO technology
The future of agriculture may lie in growing crops that improve human health, longevity, productivity, and quality of life, in addition to providing calories and basic nutrients. Nutrasorb / Rutgers team helps farmers move to the forefront of producing healthier foods.
We use non–GMO technologies to enhance nutritional and health promoting properties of lettuce and other leafy vegetables. Our first product, Rutgers Scarlet Lettuce™, which contains more beneficial polyphenols (antioxidants) than blueberries, was introduced to the global market in the fall of 2014. Products under development include high iron, high calcium and high vitamin lettuce, arugula and other leafy vegetables.
